I decided today that I would start to blog on a more consistent basis.. I am going to write about different topics as often as my schedule allows me too. I want to answer or talk about things that my followers have come up with because to be honest I am not creative enough to continually come up with something to talk about… maybe Ill do it once a week every week.. So I asked my twitfam from @CallieRivers25 what to write about annnd…. I decided to respond to.. I figured I would get this question out of the way since I know a lot of people will ask me this.
- @DomV23 Life coming from a sports filled household
When I was born in Atlanta in 89’ my father was already in the NBA playing for the Hawks, so I have been around sports literally since I was born. I have always played sports since I was able whether it was soccer, track, basketball or volleyball. I am very competitive so it was only natural to play sports. I am the second of 5 children and all of my brothers also play sports, so I have probably spent half of my life in some kind of gym. I get the question all the time what does it feel like to be “Doc Rivers Daughter,” and I am extremely proud of my father and his accomplishments but I would rather be known for being Callie Rivers. There is nothing spectacular about being an NBA Player/Coaches daughter, I have probably moved around a lot more, and been on more airplane flights than the average person and been to a lot more basketball games lol. I know I have had a VERY blessed life and I am so thankful for that but its not drastically different, I don’t know what people have in their minds but its probably not what you think, seems regular to me but then again thats all I know so I don’t know? I started out with soccer and eventually just tried volleyball for fun and ended up falling in love with the sport. Volleyball has afforded me so many opportunities, I didn’t love playing overseas in Puerto Rico but it was a great experience and I got to experience a BEAUTIFUL country and culture. Playing at Florida was amazing I honestly can say I don’t think I would’ve been happier anywhere else. I LOVE my alma mater (Gators) and my team mates have become my best life long friends. As for my brother.. my older brother Jeremiah played at Georgetown and then transferred and graduated from Indiana University. He just finished playing over seas in Serbia which was an experience for him, I never got to go over and visit but both of my parents got the opportunity to and they said it was beautiful. My brother Adam played at Fairfield University and hes a Freshman this year. My younger brother Austin plays at Duke and is a freshman their and has had a pretty successful year there so far. And last but not least my youngest brother Spencer is a Sophomore at Winter Park high school and just came off of a minicus surgery so he is still trying to get back to 100% after that. I am so proud of ALL of my brothers and I could not support them or my dad any more than I do, I want them all to achieve their goals and dreams. My mother is basically the big supporter. She has attended more games than anyone I know she flys/drives around everywhere in order to see as many games as possible. Growing up around sports has made me appreciate the hard work that goes into playing professional and division 1 sports. I love watching basketball and probably wont ever get tired of it. Anyways I hope I answered the question well and until next time with a brand new question love yall! =)
